Colors, Get Your Colors!
Alright, everybody. What is your all-time favorite color for a bass? Is it the classic black, or the new metallic green? Let everybody know, yo!
PS Mine is Natural wood with a white pickguard. o ya.
Bright Green!!!!!
at a girl......deep red!
My present bass is flat black which I love now, it doesn't show figerprints as badly. Second would be natural.
Mine is red. Miles Davis said always wear something red on stage so instead of buying a red wardrobe I figured the bass will always be there.
I have a crimson red Fender Jazz Custom and a deep purple coloured Fender Jazz fretless with a mirror scratchplate it's very classy.
I prefer the red one though
.
Any kinda wood finish, coloror natural, pickguard or not. NO PAINT!!!!!!!!
Satin finish natural wood...... My Carvin and Ibanez are both tung oil finish. Feels great and scratches don't show!!!!
Transparent Blue over quilted maple.......Sweet.
I have to figure out how to apply that finish to a bass I plan on making.

i like any kind of transparent color over figured maple, but for other woods, like bubinga, zebrano, etimoe, jakaranda etc, i like a natural satin or high gloss finish. and flat colors look great on jazz bases. not a big fan of sunburst on anything other than a gibson les paul. the pedulla cherry burst over a figured maple with gold hardware looks amazing. but black transparent over any kind of figured wood just makes it look cheap.
My Jazz is a sunburst, BUT...the best color of ALL is:
BARROOM, I repeat, BARROOM Olympic White.
It don't mean a thing is if ain't got that Nicotine stain.
Purple! Purple rules!
Second choice would be black or ash wood. I hate that honey stained maple-- ick!
I'm all for deep red or black.

Speaking of... Here's my lady. I actually ordered the clear cellophane(natural) finish at first but they were on backorder and I didn't want to wait any longer. The wine red is very nice though. I took a chance and ordered the bass from musicians friend and got a good deal on it. It's a Conklin. I love it dearly, it looks much sweeter up close.
My Jackson is a translucent white and matte silver hardware..... "Dialed In" as it were
black, red, or a dark wood finish
#### Yeah! flat black all the way man, that's what i got on my Gibson Blackbird, second would have to be standard Ebony.
Anything but sunburst
Wow, not a single blue lover. Well, looks like I'm gonna have to break that chain. I love a deep blue. My tobias has a wood finish with a blue stain...it looks so purdy.

black on black
any transparent color, with flamed wood under it, also any color that is flat looks bad ass too
Natural with black pick guard or dark wood satin finish.
natural wood with no pick guards. ( y do you need them ?)
black
Wow, this is bringing back an old topic. For me I would have to say Natural with a flamed look.
or lighter Sunburst.
Tobacco Sunburst or Nicotine Stained Olympic White
H
Black or Purple, although I have some blue, red and wood ones.
my favorite color for about anything is black, but for basses i want natural wood.
huhuuhuhuuhuu I say wood
Wow, this is bringing back an old topic. For me I would have to say Natural with a flamed look.
or lighter Sunburst.
i have to go with WarwickLowEnd - i love the cherry sunburst or red hues over a grainy wood - that's sharp - but Blue on curly maple is pretty. my Carvin is a dark emerald green burst to a black fade edge over stripe maple - that's pretty cool looking! - i think that black is too plain - for me anyway - i want to paint up a new body for my Jazz . i have a flame thing i want to do - something nice and tacky. it's the trailer-trash in me - i live near a lot a trailers.
Carvin.com has a cool thing where you can sample woods and colors and see how they look - it gives you a ruff idea anyway
Call me a romantic but I have always had a thing for bright pink and/or flourecent green. ![]()
Natural baby, its all about the wood, and damn this is an old topic!!
Old topic yes... but it's a good one ![]()
I belong to the boring crowd as well: black is my colour of choice, but I think that deep blue or red looks good to.
Snuffdog, I didn't know you were a Racer-X fan ![]()
PURPLE
Black is my preference but my Rockbass is Translucent Red with a fade into black! I really do like the seafoam green yamaha attitude also!
I generally just like the natural wood to shine through, but i must say i like the metallic silver flake on modulus flea basses, or a white jazz bass with a white pickguard.
My Spector is natural bubinga; and that is why I bought it. My Squire is blood red with a black pickguard. I like either choice with a third option of a Carvin with tobacco burst on quilt maple.
Hey, just thought of something, for those of you who like black; How about a carbon fiber look. I don't know if the sound would be effected but a single layer overlay might look cool. Especially if the fiber weave was a little larger for the looks.
I like Red. Somehow I've managed to get three Black instruments, and my backup Five-er is red, as soon as I install an active preamp in it, it will be my number 1. Definitely Red!!!
My Longhorn is lime green, Kramer's black, Dean's natural. I like em all.
Well....black finish, with a black pearloid pickguard. chack out a musicman with that...saweet...ah crap now i gotta clean off the computer
bass
lol
have to go with the cherry sunburst, or my sqiuer with its cream gloss with a tortoise pickguard, looks hot.
i dont know about my favorite. i have a lot. i really like quilt maple tops though. also, ive always wanted to get an orange fender jazz with a black pickguard.
Anything but sunburst
i like sunburst lol
I'm into bursts and translucents, like a trans black burst, or a trip. black, to green, to yellow. I also realy dig the old antigua (sic) color scheme that Fender used to have, looked, like a flesh tone to me, some graphics to look like stihches on it, that would be hella, and one of the oddest colors Fender had a trans white 1 or 2 year model run that was cool, but the coolest was the VooDoo line (guitar only, ofcourse) that gibson had for thier guitars, grrrrrrr a dark stain with red fill rubbed fo highlights, on ash, just tottaly bad.
ok, so I'm a little off, so, sue me :-)
Natural wood finish, light or dark...no pickguards, and if I have to have paint, it's gotta be transparent with nice woodgrain showing
well my favourite must be black, second black with white pickguard and third Natural wood (dark).
