Ampeg V6B
Hey,
I just picked up an Ampeg V6B cab(2x15's) and the guy threw in the V6B head for free as it's not working. I plugged it all in, but get no signal from the input jacks. I can turn the volume up, however, and get a hum from the speakers that changes as you mess with the EQ. Does anybody know anything about these amps? The cab rocks (I run my G&L through my Aguilar DB680 crossed over to a Crest CA9 into the Ampeg and an Eden 2x10--thundering lows and crystal highs), but I'm wondering if I should bother getting the head fixed--local amp repair guy said it'd be 贶-赔 probably--'cause I do gig at places I don't wanna bring the rack. I just wanna know if anybody knows anything about the V6B and if I should bother, because there is NOTHING out there to read about it--I've tried, believe me. Thanks, y'all.
If you can't see anything obvious, try checking with a local Ampeg dealer for repairs. That would be my suggestion.
You new guys have GOT to start checking the dates on the strings you're posting on...

That's my fault, I was up too late and i thought if you click on the single greater than would move only one page over, not to the end
That's my fault,...
No biggee... Just gave me an excuse to tease. Trust me, there have been bigger mistakes on this forum...
Have you open er up to see if there is any loose wires, that's the general case. A low hum is caused from the ground being disconnected or loose, i have the same problem with a big muff pedal a traded with a friend. If you don't see any obvious loose wires just check each by a little tug or inspection.
