Adding a pick guard

I just bought a blue agave Fender standard jazz and I want to switch the pickgaurd to a pearl white one. I found one at musicians friend for $39. Is this a good price, and do I just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one without taking off the strings or anything like that?

I think the cost is decent, you could proly get a cheaper one on ebay, but that would be much more hassle. Everything should just transfer right over, +1 what Jackie said about all the screw holes lining up as well as the pup holes. All should be cool.
you should be able to just transfer everything over. just make sure all the screw holes line up and PUP holes too
i'd check out WD music products or Warmoth or All Parts to see what their prices are for comparison.........
$40 sounds alright for a fancy pearloid one i think.
Beer is not simply a means of drunkenness nor is it merely a lubricant to grease the skids to sin. Beer, well respected and rightly consumed, can be a gift of God. It is one of his mysteries, which it was his delight to conceal and the glory of kings to search out. And men enjoy it to mark their days and celebrate moments and stand with their brothers in the face of what life brings - Stephen Mansfield, The search for God and Guinness
