Ampeg??

I'm interested in getting the Ampeg SVT5 pro and was wondering if any of you fine folks has had any experience with this. I played it at a Music store and was immediatly impressed so just any further info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking of (2) 8 x 10s or (1) 8 x 10 And an 1 x 18 Not sure I know I'll be getting atleast one 8 x 10.

Ampeg isnt quite what i like in tone, but they are great amps. If i had the cash i would definitly own an ampeg system for THAT ampeg tone, but otherwise, i want a more clean tone, so i use bergantino cabs and demeter pre.
Its purely subjective, but i think the stv5 is sick, but you need t o get out to a store and try one if you can, because it might not be what you want in tone

i tried a svt-4pro, and i'm pretty much sold on it for a amp, just gotta find a cab to go with it (and I know...Viva la Avatar!)

I did try it out and it is sick as hell. With a clean and dirty channel and an octave circuit this thing is pure metal balls! Basically its an SVT4 with the Billy Sheehan preamp Built in then they added the octave circuit plus on the pedal you have a combine option to combine the 2 channels..........pure evil!!

Wel lthen, as long as you are impress, go for it! Ampegs are definitly reliable, so you shouldnt have much to worry about.

Hey Torturecell, just bear in mind that the 5pro head will only safely push 1 8x10 cab. If you try any others in adition to that, you will eventually need a supplimental power source.

thanks Demon hadn't gotten that far into it yet! Will keep in mind I'm sure one will be fine for the shows we are doing now I'll add on later if need be!
The 5Pro is a great head. I play the 4Pro because it provides more wattage. The 5Pro has the BSP-Preamp in it, which is awesome IMO. I swear by Ampeg. What kind of cab are you gonna be running it into?
