Anyone heard of essex?
I went to ebay and got a cheap 5-string Essex(SX?) just for learning on. I had never even heard of SX before. Nor would I want to, from my experience. I can beat the crap out of my Fender P, and it's still fine, but only 5 decent practice sessions on the SX, and it's all up crap creek with a turd for a paddle. The wirings loose, the neck is bent, and the pickups are toast. Guess I got screwed :S Anyone else heard of SX?
Anyone selling a GOOD cheap 5-string? Or are good and cheap an oxymoron?
Peace!
You know for some reason there is a stigma attached to Peavey instruments. But truth is, for the price and quality there really isn't much better.

Dean also make quality inexpensive axes.
i have a dean edge q5 which is nice.
i really dig the ibanez BTB405......excellent bass
You musta got a bad one, cuz the SX I have is fantastic. The other people I have talked to that have them like them as well. Then again I don't beat the crap out of my instruments either.

I have also heard great things about them as well, as always, cheap instrumenrts are a crapshoot, you might get a dud. But for the most part, people praise essex. I would try to get a refund, and buy one throufggh rondomusic instead, because buying on ebay doesnt usually gaurantee a good one.

coo coo ca choo, thanx for the tips
AFAIK, essex is another name for SX which is sold here (rondomusic.com)... and from what I've heard, they're some great basses for the money
