What does everyone play for a bass?
Thought it would be interesting to find out what everyone is using for bass, some of us I'm sure are playing the same ones. Presently I'm playing an Ibanez ATK and an Epiphone Explorer Bass, both four strings. What's everyone else's tools?
I bought a Dean EQ6 six-string about three months ago and I am really impressed with it. First six-string I ever played (I'm a four-string junkie, wouldn't even THINK about any more than four until now!) and I can't believe all the new directions it's opened up for me! Low B is COOL!!!!! And that high open space is incredible!
Slade, I am envious!!! I want a Warwick. Let me know how it plays...is it anything like the LTD?
I play an American Fender Jazz V 5-string, Peavy Foundation S (early 80's model) - just put Seymour Duncan Basslines in it, and a Peavey Foundation Fretless (early 90's). The Peavey's are cheaper basses, but they play great. And the S with Basslines sounds great - they opend up a whole new world of tones for that bass!
I purchased a brand new Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 string (all white), in February of this year and it has been my main bass since then. Prior to that my main bass was my Ernie Ball Music Man 4 string (all black), and it hasn't got much playing time since I bought the 5 string. I also have a black Rickenbacker 4003 that I play on occasion. I have an Ibanez SB900 (all blue), that hasn't been out of it's case for quite some time, a Japanese made Fender Precision (all black), that I use for practicing at home, and my baby, a 1976 American made Fender Jazz (sunburst), that needs frets. I need more basses, I don't have enough...
Ibanez Soundgear 405 5 string. I am thinking of picking up a BTB800 that I recently checked out.

Ibanez SR3000 with the Drop D tuning switch is my main bass
Ibanez SRX300 as my "other" bass. I'm looking to get another fretless (since I traded my Cort on the SR3000 last year) and maybe a 5 string down the line.
I'd love to get a Warwick, there is nowhere to buy or try them around here.

My main bass is an Aria pro I also play a JB Player P-bass copy and a Stienberger copy wich is a rat but a fun rat.
I've owned a few since i started playing
-Ibanez Roadstar II (not the fender looking ones)
-Cort Sb10 thats now a industrial lookin project
-Ibanez Soundgear 400 i think (soon to get rid of)
-Peavey Fury 4string (the blue one) thats my bass of choice i love that thing, and i normally use it to practice
-BC Rich NJ Beast, Nice bass for shows or just playing infront of ppl, the trans red paint makes it look evil

I think I'm the only person on here with a Vigier Custom Passion 4-string bass. I ordered him from France last October, and he finally arrived in February. I have been lovin' on him ever since. (His name, in case you missed that thread on the forum, is Precious Baby Lamb.) Purple, by the way, is THE BEST color for a bass!
Mariscos...what a beautiful instrument! I'm impressed with the lines...how does it play?
Main bass is a 94 Carvin LB-75. Modified p/u's and replaced bridge to get a wide range of "tones". Plays nice but my 59 P-bass is the dream to drive. What a beautiful instrument. I built a 4 string w/ EMG preamp and p/u's and strung it B-E-A-D, no G. The jury's still out on this one...
Fender American P Bass
G&L SB-2 (black on black, main player), Mex Fender P-bass (black on black, this is my light-on-fire-throw-in-the-air bass), and a G&L L2500, (sunburst, studio bass).
Status Energy Matrix, graphite neck. 1978 Aria Pro2 RSB Straycat.
GIbson Blackbird Nikki Sixx Signature...pretty #### cool, that's my main one. i got a black Epi Les Paul, and black Epi Explorer, and an old beat up and worn out P bass that i've had forever.
1st bass- Ibanez g10
2nd bass- Peavey Foundation
3rd bass- Conklin Gt-4 ![]()
The Conklin is a nice intermediate bass for me right now. I'm still learning how to keep my bass's setup decent, they are always getting out of whack.
My first bass was a Peavey Milestone II. It's paid for itself many times over, still got it today. Then I got my baby. I ordered a Peavey Cirrus 5 with the optional redwood at the time. In the catalog the redwood looked all flamey like. It was supposed to be a 6 month wait. Then the guy that I ordered it from said that "they found one that you ordered in a warehouse somewhere", and that he had it for me about two weeks after I ordered it. This kinda spooked me. The bass he revealed to me was very light in color and all bird's eyed. It didn't look anything like the picture, but I really dig it now.
Then I bought a Peavey Axcelerator 4 string fretless used #### cheap. It's gold and sparkley.
Then I traded in a Takamine acoustic (didn't want you to think that I was all Peavey) for a Peavey Fury II, It's all blue and flamey. On a side note, isn't it amazing that they can get those beautiful flamed woods on a bass for so little money??
Hey, Mariscos...the bass sounds really wonderful. I'd like to check out their website (do they have one?) and do some comparative shopping. I want to get a new bass, something that covers as many features as I want, without being over 񘷠.00. I'm dreaming, I think. And yes, I have a kilt although I'm almost all Irish...we didn't fancy kilts, but I have been known to wear mine. Do you know what an Irishman has under HIS kilt??? I think your bass is way cool! Congratulations!
I play a custom Fender Jazz 5-string Fretless (I just bought the neck and changed it), a self-built walnut/active Bartonlini p-u & pre-amp 4-string, and an Applause by Ovation acoustic 4-string (Cheapy but goody).

I've also got an Ibanez ATK, but (and this sounds weird to a lot of people, but it's player pref.) I really like my Rogue. It's like a hundred bucks, but it's the most comfortable bass for me to play.
forget the explorer(i think i can say that i have one)...get the thundrebird, you won't be dissapointed
Celt,
Their website is www.vigierguitars.com. They have three bass lines, and the one I have is their middle-priced one. Depending on options you might choose, you should be able to get one for less than 4 G's.
Salwender International is their distributor in the US, and their contact info is listed somewhere on the Vigier site. There's also a music store in the Kansas City area (where I live) that is a dealer. Sorry, I can't remember what part of the globe you're on.
Old Lady (to Scotsman): What is worn under your kilt?
Scotsman: Why, nothing! It's all in perfect working order!
My son wears Batman briefs under his, though!

Man i would love to get a Pedulla ! ! ! !
You lucky bastard ! ! ! !
'83 Ibanez Roadstar II 4 string (32" scale)
'85 Ibanez Roadstar II 4 string (34" scale)
Dean Q5 5 string, see thru red finish, quilted maple top (35" scale)
Ibanez BTB405QM, transparent black, 5 string (35" scale)
the BTB is my newest one and it is plays very sweet and sounds very awesome. more comfortable than the Dean due to wider string spacing. 18V electronics, sweepable midrange.
Ok Doc, what are you doing to be able to afford all those basses? I'm impressed, really.
One thing tho, you could trade all those in for a nice 3 bedroom house/2car garage & a couple of acres of land....and still have money for a decent car!
Maybe one day I'll add a couple more basses to my arsenal. Keep it real, bro.
Mostly I've been playing my Carvin LB76F for gigs. I just put together a Carvin 5-string kit bass that has amazing tone. I may swap that our with the 6 for a while. I've got an old '76 Jazz bass that's still my best friend. I don't gig much with it anymore though. There's an Ashbury that I play once in a while for songs that want an "uprighty" sound. Lastly, Steve Wishnevsky is making me an EUB that should be ready in a couple of weeks. Wish takes a lot of crap for his designs, but I think he's a kind of freaky visionary.
Fender Sting Signature P-bass, and a Shecter SB-1. I've toyed with getting an Explorer bass, either Gibson or Epiphone.
The Fender is just fantastic, the Shecter looks better than it sounds.
I have a Fender Musicmaster. Don't feel bad if you never heard of it, I think Fender only made it for one year. She stands only about an inch taller than a strat and has a whopping 19 frets.
I am currently looking for a new baby. I am torn between an Ibanez BTB 405, Carvin 5-string or a custom 5-string made from a kit. Money is the deciding factor unfortunatly. It will be hard to beat the price of my Musicmaster. She may be short but she was free.
Currently, I am using a 4 string G&L L-2000 and a Spector Rebop - 5 (which I accidently knocked out of the stand during rehearsal yesterday and gave it it's first scratch....SOB....)
Im playing a ESP F-204 and also have a B.C.RICH warlock.

Fender Jazz, stack pot vintage reissue c. 1983. As of two weeks ago I've had it for 20 years and its #### near irreplaceable. Also have a 1960 Kay M-1 upright which I don't get to use as much as I'd like.
Washburn XB400
Ibanez BTB-1006
Carvin LB75
Hey, Celticman!
My new bass plays like a dream. I haven't been playing long enough to do it justice-- I'm still learning-- but I know I am playing much better now that I have a good bass. The action is really, really low, so I can play longer before my left hand tires out, and there's still not any significant fret buzzing to deal with. I've also noticed I can play faster than I could on my high-action, cheap P-bass knockoff. I just don't have to work as hard to play the instrument.
The balance is great, too. No more neck diving like I had before.
I like having a lot of options with my active pickups, though I tend to keep it deep, dark, and jazzy sounding most of the time.
I have Scots and Irish ancestry-- you got a kilt?
Peavey Dyna~Bass - 4 String
Peavey Cirrus - 4 String
Peavey Accelerator - 6 string
yeah the pedulla is hands down my favorite jazz bass of all time, the slap sound is unparalleled, i wasnt a believer untill i picked one up and slapped the b string, sending pictures flying off the wall. they are amazing, and you can get used one CHEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAPPP. like 900 bux.
My one and only is an Ibanez SR886 six string. Been playing it for about 13 years. Like many others would love to get a Warwick 6 string. Would like to get another Ibanez 886 and make it fretless.

I just made the jump and got the T-Bird. I have nothing but good things to say about it, it just makes my Schecter sound like a toy....
I got a Ibanez EBD 600 i love that thing its pearl white but it looks more marshmellow than anything...i also have a Washburn Xb-102 that might as well be throw'n away
shit.... just bought a new bass about 15 minutes ago- Warwick fretless- 4 string- it's a 1991- when they were still being built in Germany. I saw it in the newspaper- had to check it out- played like a #### dream- and I have always wanted a fretless- pics to come soon!! It needs a bit of work but man- what a tone!!
