For those of you who are joining or thinking about joining the UglyForum, we want to welcome you. We think you will enjoy this community. There's no other like it.
There are a couple of things you should know:
First off (and this one is new for 2007): Once you've registered with us and start posting, you should know that your first couple of posts won't appear here right away: they go into a moderation queue for review prior to showing up on the live forum. Why? Because we're very vigilant about spam here, and we've had a lot of it lately. We try hard to keep this community free of common internet annoyances, and spam is one of them. So we're sorry for this screening process, but you will come to appreciate it later if you end up using the forum frequently.
Second: we don't tolerate inconsiderate people and spammers. We have an infraction system and we use it. Spammers are immediately banned permanently. If we see members insulting one-another, we will issue infractions which will ultimately result in the offensive party getting banned.
Third, we don't want to discourage you by posting these rules right up front-- this is a unique and open community, with just a few simple rules. There are no skill requirements for being here. No one is going to talk down to you or make fun of your gear. It's funny. Our members are entertaining. Our moderators are awesome.
So follow these simple guidelines and we're going to get along just fine:
1. Don't spam the board. This includes using the forum for blatant self-promotion.
2. Don't be a jerk to other members.

Simple rules which are very very easy to follow, at least for us. I've seen other forums where the insults and f-bombs are more common than actual subject talk. God I love this place:)

im new to UBP
hey guys im new to UBP. i dont spam or anything like that ijust got a question that im hoping someone could answer me. i just got a chris beattie signature bass its a jackson c20, and i realize when im playin the first fret doesnt pick up as well as the others do, when it picks up it sounds terrible it comes in really low (volume wise) and it just sounds like **Stinky Brown Trout** compared to the other frets. does anyone know what the deal is?

Hey there! Newbie here. Guitarist turned bassist. Girl at that! Play mostly Metal, but in a band that is liking some classic rock a lot.. This place looks great! I play a Hamer Slammer 21 frets.......It's what I own, not exactly what I want, but it's great! Hope to learn a lot from this forum! First thing I'm looking for are threads of interest about Bass amps!

New Member-First Post
Well, I've been lurking around here for a few months and decided its time to start particpating in this chaos. My name is Larry, I'm 49, happily married with 1 son (12 yrs. old) who is learning the twangstick.I play around at playing a Fender Hwy 1 P-bass. I started playing way back in Jr. high school with the jazz band and kept it going until mid senior year. I then went on to other (not so good) interests for 20 years or so and decided that since I work for a bass player(in an auto repair shop) that I may as well pick it back up. I've been back in the fold since June '07 and I'm diggin' becoming an ugly again. Sorry to be so long winded, but its my intro so bear with me. Anyways, I'M BAAACK, LowDownDad.:cool:
