I'm about to quit my job that I've had for 12 years
I'm planning on quitting my warehouse job very soon. The B.S. is just too much to deal with and I'm starting to feel like the place is stealing my soul away piece by piece.
I told my band about it tonight and the first thing they said to me is that I should be working in a studio as an engineer or producer. They said, I have a scary brain for that kind of stuff. lol
If anyone knows of a studio or something that might be looking for some extra help in the Chicagoland area let me know. I'd really like to get my foot in the door somewhere. Even if it was just basic stuff at first.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

congratulations, it takes a pair to up and quit your main source of income. good luck with the studio job.
Quitting a job is a liberating feeling. I think it's part of the reason why I'm self-employed. I get to leave jobs twice or three times a year knowing that I don't have to go back.
dont blame you at all man im thinking about doing the same thing i work in a warehouse for the last 2 and a half years and am tired of it think imma wait till summer use my vacation and then leave you dont happen to work at maines paper and food do you?
I dont have a job to quit yet,
still lookin for somethin to do.
my bank account is running kinda thin, and i dont wanna have to sell my gear
Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
I actually just got home after walking out of work. I expect a phone call from the boss sometime soon. Who knows, maybe they will get the point I've been trying to make about our psycho Vice President that makes personal attacks on family and other personal issues. The guy has said some stuff to me that would get someone fired at any other company. At least I was told today that I was irreplacable by the rest of the employees which is nice to hear.
Anyway, on my way home I thought that maybe I could join a wedding band for a little while, play 2 gigs on the weekends if I can. I was also offered a job at the Sam Ash down the street about a month ago, even though I wouldn't make nearly as much as I've been getting paid it would be a source of income.

screw just getting your foot in the door, start your own business and kick it down. you have the toys, the know-how on using them, and the killer instinct to get the sh!t done instead of half-arsing it like so many others.
you live in/near the city and can write/record/play every part on a recording, how many young rich suburban white boys trying to be 50 cent, would pay a few hundred bucks, to have someone make them a real ep of their crappy raps, instead of rapping over fruit loop default beats? or how about all those american idol kareoke queens wanting a demo to show off with.
recording isnt that much different than what i do, in that if you are good enough at what you do and have the tools at your disposal, a single person can take on and beat large well known corporations.
and whats really funny, is after you kick in the door, you realize that it's alot better outside, and end up not returning calls for interviews from a very large and well known company whose name is 3 letters lol....

Man, I'm inspired to start my own business. I like gardening.
12 years is a long time, I just went over 6 and its the longest Ive stayed at one place by two years. Im really gettin the urge to move on, but Im sittin in a pretty sweet spot right now. Also, Im not really able to up and leave like I used to do, so if your in a situation where you can do it, go for it and good luck.

lol im wonder what you are growing....
but you can pretty much make a small success of any business venture if you do something no one else wants to (think dirty jobs).
you can make a huge sucess if you do something no one else wants to and are also very good at it. (think billionaire geeks that spend years coding).
Can't help you with employment, but I wish to congratulate you on the decision to move on. I want but don't dare to leave my job... Slave to the wage! :o
