That Wiki article says the 420 term came from after school smokers in '71. Funny I never heard that term until somehwere in the 90's.
I always heard it was the Cop code for 'smoking in progress'. As in they are watching you smoke something and they call into base to say they have a 420 to investigate.
I was just talking about the Spin Doctors and the album Kryptonite......Stoner world hey? Speaking of which, dunno how many of you like Stoner rock, but there is a band from Austin Texas that is freakin great! The Sword.....
I love The Sword, I was just listening to them while dropping my kid off at school.
Personally, I haven't had much interest in the stuff, but I always wanted to do a stoner song set consisting of the following tunes:
Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf
Rush - A Passage to Bankok
Boston - Smokin'
And a couple others that escape my memory for the moment (you really don't do the stuff???).
PS- I really have no problem with people who do 420 as long they don't blow it my way. I just never developed any particular desire for it.
The Sword rock..Guitar Hero introduced me to them (Freya) and I've loved 'em ever since. I tend to like most bands labelled under 'stoner rock'..bass heavy riff rock!

I'm like an ex tobacco smoker that still loves the smoke blown in their direction....I just don't do it anymore for many reasons.....Legality issues, and having teenagers around that I don't want to do the stupid %(*#$ I did! But, I love the lingering memories a lot!.
Ken loves stoner rock for that chunka chunka chunka riffness too....It just sounds heavy and cool to me.....I can remember a lot of garage bands in my youth that would be considered stoner rock nowdays.......:)

Way ahead of ya! Have a good one.
