80's Cock Rock???
Who is your favorite eighties cock rock band? I'm just curious about you guilty pleasures.
For me it is Motley Crue followed VERY closely by Twisted Sister and Ratt.
H
Bon Jovi
Ratt
Poison
White Snake
The Crew a little (Not a huge fan)
Twisted Sister
Helix
Ozzy
Europe
The Cult
also
Don't laugh too much
The Go Go's
The Bangles
Power Station
Some Cure
I'm a huge Ozzy fan and wouldn't have put him in that catagory but alas I like many others sometimes forget the Jake E. Lee years. Actually my favorite era of Ozzy. Bark at the Moon and Shot in the Dark are top notch. Zakk is my favorite guitarist but Jake was the sh!t. I've really gotten into alot of this older stuff again as the car I'mcurrently sportin' only has a cassette deck and I been pulling out the good stuff. Skid Row was definitely eighties and I think VH only qualifies as Cock Rock during the DLR years. Loved Warrant, Winger and Poison too. Still Do!!! and C'mon Thorn as far as Cock Rock goes it don't get no more phallic than You Give Love a Bad Name

This is true! And Richie Sambora was a good show! John gets on my nerves a bit!..I saw DLR with Steve Vai and YEP, BILLY SHEEHAN live, and came within inches of Roth's buttless pants in my face as he climbed into the soundbooth to get on his surfboard that went across the arena...Saw Van Halen in Houston during the first part of the Hagar years.......Prefer DLR!
Vince is a super sweet guy.......He was so supportive and found all the right people to help me..I was sitting in the hallway waiting for her to come out of the room and all of a sudden the hall lights go out and this guy comes up to me in the semi-dark and it was Vince..He said, hey what's the matter....I stood up and couldn't speak for a moment and he just was really sweet and gave me time to get myself together......I explained what happened and he kind of laughed, and said, Oh it's cool, I know right where she'd be, follow me okay Bekah..I was like..WHEW!..THANKGOD FOR VINCE! All that and I was so relieved to get her back that I forgot autographs!
Nikki Sixx wasn't too nice though..Kinda upset me a bit..He was what's all this about?.....Once Vince told him, he was like Oh that's all! kinda scoffed and took off to his bus.......But, he's still a major ugly!
I could handle all the hair bands and glam, but I got really tired of that band EUROPE! *not to offend our european brothers and sisters*........but, the Final Countdown was run into the ground here!..When I think of European music I think of pure brilliance in music, but this band ...So commercial!
Mr Big
Well...I'm from the 80's..
I think a lot of the people (either younger or older)durring that time lumped all bands into hair metal catagory.
anyway for hair metal(OR ARENA ROCK) :
(in no particular order)
POISON
MOTLEY CRUE
WARRANT
BULLET BOYS
FASTER PUSSYCAT
now..that being said..my two favorite bands got lumped into the hair metal category just cuz they had long hair.
I highly reccomend you give these a listen to (not just the popular tracks you may have heard on the radio)
I THINK THEY ARE VERY UNDERRATED
1. DANGEROUS TOYS -DANGEROUS TOYS- 89'- i dig the bass tone, and they're from texas so you know the band friggin rocks.lots of guitars.
2.SAIGON KICK - the LIZARD91' also under rated , the guy had a great voice and always multilayered harmonies.I think the songwriting was different considering all else that was goin on at the time. You may recall the ballad love is on the way..well it was a hit , so the record company wanted more ballads to sell. and thats when the singer Matt Kramer quit.So the lizard is the only album with his vocals. (I think the guitarist took over for the next album...which flopped.
jmo
One word
Dokken :D
\m<--->m/
The crue and probably Skid row.... oh those were the days! :o
Not my fav but I saw Great White in Ankorage.
Talk about the girls!!! Woohoo!!! Just like a Great White video, it was beautiful!
I have to second the Dangerous Toys nod. Great band and some really great guys. I went to Jason McMaster's house and he still has those Texas flag leather pants framed on his wall. Everytime I see him, he's thanking me for being a fan. He's a super nice guy. If you ever see him, ask him about his rockstar school. He's got a lot of funny stories.
Skid Row is great, as well. They always put on a good show, even now.
Cinderella is still one of my favorite bands.
well its my weakness.... so here is the list....in no particular order
Motley Crue
Poison
Ratt
Cinderella
Wasp
Warlock
Dangerous Toys
Def Leppard
Dokken
LA Guns
Slaughter
Vinne Vincent Invasion
Vixen
Faster Pussycat (sort of fan)
Trixter
Skid Row
Tesla
Mr Big
Talus
Pretty Boy Floyd
Psycho Drama
Firehouse
Stryper
Steele Heart
and I know there are more, that is just what is on my MP3 plyer right now! LOL
I think demons list does if pretty well for me. Although I was never a crue fan until recently. I just never took them seriously as musicians. I have started to listen to them recently though and come to find out....those guys were pretty good.
I would allso like to add a big +1 to Tesla. I really dig a lot of their stuff.
As far as eighties stuff there are a few bands that have to be mentioned here, granted these are not exactly cock rock glam bands, but they were around during the eighties and they were the bands that I was really listening to as a kid.
1. Mettalica----pre justice album. RIP Cliff.
2. Iron Maiden--- 'nuff said.
3. Anthrax-----yeah boieee!!!
Can't forget the Japanese bands EZO and loudness
Pretty Maids
Honeymoon Suite
Bango Tango

And a 70's -80's Icon.........UFO! .... Doctor Doctor, Lights out in London...
and of course....Too Hot to Handle
I would have to go with these:
Skid Row
Love/Hate
The Cult
WASP
AnyBody Remember Blue Murder
Oh yes, I remember Blue Murder. How many records did they end up putting out?
AnyBody Remember Blue Murder
Oh, yes! Tony Franklin's one of my bass heroes!
I totally forgot a band that I really dug when they came out... they were one hit wonders though....
Roxy Blue

I saw Ratt twice, Bon Jovi Three times, once with Ratt, once with David Lee Roth, and third time they were headlining, but I wanted to see their openers Cinderella..Saw Motley Crue and took my then 13 year old daughter off the tour bus bound for Dallas Texas.....Met Vince Neil, as it was he that found her for me as I cried like an infant.......She got backstage, and well, Tommy Lee just loved her...Brat got in so much trouble, then I got over it and was kinda proud of her!..;)
My favorites though were Ozzy w/Jake E Lee, Van Halen........Loved the Crue! Wasn't a BonBon fan, but they were a necessary evil to see other performers! Oh and Skid Row! Wait were they 80;s? Yeah I think they were!
