I weigh 201 now, ...yay~! and promise to be....
194 by oct 1st with 26 percent body fat
I am 28 percent body fat now,
that will be the lowest I have been since I did the second ab lounge commercial in 2004, when I weighed in at 192..I think
before that, the first ab lounge commercial in 2002, I was 187
yes, I'm braggin! but if its true, it aint braggin....:p
and, in 1999, I did EAS and got to 169 and 10 percent body fat--down from 185 and 27 % body fat ...yeah!
I also went from 25 percent body fat to 17 % in 1995
its a constant battle!
I was at a high of 224 and 31 %----couldnt break that 225 BARRIER! juuuuuuuuuuust missed it....
that was when I was a telephone order taker....yes , I fine job title!
and then went out and ate and drank like a madman, still couldnt break 225!
so, 194, here I come!
big --soon to be small-- al
I don't get to weigh very often as I'm a little larger than a standard scale can handle. Last time I weighed was about ten months ago and I was like 397. Anywho last week I got on one of the big boy scales at the hospital and I'm down to 346. I am stoked! Got a little more active and am eating a bit better and apparently it's working. 16 more pounds and I'm on a regular scale again. My ultimate goal is 200-220. Almost half my highest weight. I'm looking into the lap-band procedure. That will help a ton.

397 - down to 346.
WOAH! WAY TO GO! 51lbs...amazing job!
H, I'm proud of you, that's hard work and your doing a great job of it. After my heart attack in Dec '05', I quit smoking, started to eat right, exercise regularly, and lost 40 llbs., I feel so much better. I went from 240 all the way down to 199.5, I fluxuate around 201-205 most of the time.
If you can get the lap band, OMG, you won't even look the same after a year. A friend of mine had it done and she looks totally different, totally!! She's lost so much weight, sometimes I don't think it's her.
Keep up the good work, it'll be very rewarding.:)
thanks guys! gonna try to get there, and if I share my dilemma with you folks, I cant hide!
H, you are a big boy!
congrats on the weight loss
V, yes, a heart attack can wake you up....thank GOD you are ok, and still here...and taking better care of youreself now
al
192 ish... I just started my version of a diet.... I'll check in and give some updates....
keep at it fellers, and mammas!!
Congrats Surfbug.........
Congrats Headle! Very good job!
I just saw my specialist today and I have lost 15 pounds from the two storms, but have extremely high levels of cortisol, the stress hormone and it keeps a lot of fat in the body..However I have a 38% muscle mass index which is very high for a woman and one my age..Body building years ago has had a good effect on that..I have a great foundation, just need to adjust to things since I lost my gall bladder and had menopause at the same time..It caused a large weight gain.
I'm in the market for a manual treadmill, because they are small, I can't do anything about walking in this neighborhood...
Congrats Surfbug.........
However I have a 38% muscle mass index which is very high for a woman and one my age..Body building years ago has had a good effect on that..
..
Congrats to all on a healthier lifestyle.
Thorn, do you mean bodymass index? If not, how do you figure up muscle mass index and what's considered good?
Not sure how it's measured FM..That's what it says on my Interstitial Body scan report I'm looking at here. Doc says that 38 is a high muscle mass for a female............It also measures out at 48 percent intercellular water mass. ? That's from the measurements.........My blood volume is low at this time because of diuretic blood pressure meds.......There's some other things on here I don't actually know what they stand for....
199.6 now....
28%
targeting 194 and 26%
julie and I went walking 2.7 miles last nite! run/walk actually, much more walking though!
yah!

If I use the Navy Method for calculating bodyfat, which is supposed to be reasonably accurate, I'm sitting around 18% bodyfat. For my age, that's not too bad. It's in the high end of healthy range.
But if I use BMI charts, I'm considered obese. I'd have to lose 30 lbs. just to get in the normal range. Uh, not gonna happen.
That's right, F them charts FMan. I don't put any stock in any numbers. Unless it's the number of laps I can chase my 10 year old around the playground.
It's funny that this post came up because I've been in personal training for about the past 3 - 4 months. I've seen major improvement in strength, stamina, and recoup time. But my jeans are only marginally looser. And scale still says the same 200lb it said to start with. But if I lost 10lbs of fat and gained 10lbs of muscle, wouldn't that make sense? Truth is, it doesn't matter.
I spend about 8 - 12 hours a day at my computer, sometimes as much as 16. I needed to do something. My whole hamstrings-butt-lower back system is just dead to the world, but it's starting to wake back up. I can hold a squat for way longer than I used to, and the amount of weights I'm lifting is gradually increasing.
The big deal for me is pain in the knees from surgery and possible arthritis. I WILL play basketball again (which is where I got the injury to begin with), and I'll be able to do it for more than 15 minutes without dying. It will take time, but I WILL play again. (FTR I never played even on a college level, just all pickup games, and I have no jump, but I've got a pretty solid mid-range jumper.... I just love the game.)
Anyway, that's what I put stock in. Body fat % and BMI charts are all a bunch of crap. I measure my fitness by how much I'm able to enjoy my life.
Right on!
I'm getting back into the gym myself. Figured if I'm quitting smoking, might as well get back into shape.
I hurt my shoulders 2 years ago, and havn't lifeted since.
Hopefully I'll be Light P in a few months ;)
At the beginning of Spring I was getting very close to the 200 mark. Prolly right around 199 if not even more for a spell. I also decided I hated myself that way, and needed to do something about it. for three months I was able to get myself on, and keep my own little exorcise regimen and diet. I dropped around 25 lbs, and gained a bunch of definition again. No idea on any indexes or charts...
Then all )*)# broke loose at work AND at home, and I wasn't able to stay on my program. Fortunately... I did most of it the right way, so now that I'm getting back on my program... I'm still in the upper 170 range, so I really didn't gain much of anything back, I just got a little soft again. If I can get into the 160 range at almost 40 I'll be happy considering I've always had an athletic frame. very broad shouldered for my size.
Glad to see I'm not the only one putting myself through the torture. :p
Oh yeah, eyeteeth, hurting all over from Tuesday's workout, I went this morning. Did NOT want to be there. It sucked so bad. But I did it dammit, and I'll be back on Sat.
The worst thing was missing that one week because of a cold. My recoup time is killing me right now. :(

I hear ya Fenderman, if I was the proper weight for the BMI chart I'd be 165. I'd be so sucked up it wouldn't even be funny. I haven't weighed 165 since I was in high school.

julie and I walked about 3/4 mile just now!

I used to do a lot of Yoga and belly dancing during my martial arts days.....I do severely need to get back to that, cause the deep stretching lengthens and leans muscle and the belly dancing trains the core......plus, it's fun!..
Gonna start that tomorrow!..Soon as I get up........:)

And you don't appear to be anywhere near overweight.
According to BMI charts, for my height, I should weigh between 114 and 144. I weigh 180. I'm not saying that I don't need to lose some weight, because I do. But, y'all. at 144 lbs., my bodyfat would be in the single digits. At 114, I'd be ill.
But, anyway...
Do it Surfbug!!
I lost 5 lbs this week..... no beer, no alcohol, not much bread. Eating protein, complex carbs and essential fats with every meal... lots of water. no soda. I wonder if I can do it for a month... doubtful, but I'm gonna try... I should be about 175... when I got married 4 years ago I was 163... I was too damn thin though, but I felt good.

Screw the vid of you playing your uglystick, I want to see you belly dancing!!:D

What I find that is great... is eventually, if you're doing it right, and if you can stick with it and not cheat... somewhere between month one and month two you get to the point you WANT to go be active. Lifting, running, walking, playing something.
I'm just getting back to it, and at 5pm last night I could barely keep my eyes open but forced myself to do something anyway. I remember not too long ago getting home at 5 and not being able to get active soon enough.
This is turning into an Ugly support group... and something about the support being given just doesn't seem ugly. I'm all confused now. Might have to break out a night of beer, bacon, and frosting to set the universe right.
Screw the vid of you playing your uglystick, I want to see you belly dancing!!:D
Woo hoo!!! :D;)
hey teeth, yeah, I've been at it for about 4 months now and it's only through sheer will power that I've gone on some days. Now it's pretty automatic, but there are still days it's tough to go. And if it weren't for the personal trainers I'm sure I would be doing it horribly wrong.
 Dudes, I don't even want to see me doing it!..shudder!
Sigoth says Private Dancer rights are his!...:D
Seriously gonna take me a few months of all this detoxing and ending the Leaky Gut syndrome thing with enzymes, etc..............working hard........Belly dancing is a core exercise that is the best of any out there!..Now they have pole dancing classes.........Whoda thunk?
Oh I keep forgetting this! This will help everyone out! Most of us have high cholesterol, and some take liver toxic drugs for it. My mom was one of those people. She dropped the cholesterol drug in favor of CINNAMON everyday by capsule. She waited a month, went to the doc, didn't tell him what she did and her cholesterol was NORMAL where as on the medication, it was still way too high. So, this past week was her fifth month on the Cinnamon and her cholesterol is actually low...........
If people are dieting and trying to health up, this would be a good addition to all of it!..:)
dont know how I got there....
I am 197 and 26% body fat
I have been working on a rental house, doing maint and construction......
but I usually eat like a pig!
maybe I am actually working!
hope you guys and gals are doing well with your goals
slade, I saw you are doing great! good job!

thanks bug...
yeah, I work in construction so I burn a lot of calories...
I'm not quite so worried just about the weight aspect as I am the overall physical conditioning. My other passion besides the low end is officiating high school and small college football. I've been doing it for 18 seasons now and have noticed that, in the last couple of years, the players have gotten soooooo much faster that I now have a bit of trouble keeping up with them :D. I got on the scale the other day (a rare thing for me) and I'm thinking that maybe the extra 30 pounds I seem to have accumulated might have something to do with it. So I guess it's move over guys and make room for one more. It's not going to hurt any of us
now I weigh 195.6
been walking about 1 mile 3x per week with mrs surf
yes, and 27 percent body fat
hmmmmmmm
might start really trying now!
hahahhaha

I'm at 179... down from 202ish.....
Right now I'm 209 with my clothes off, had an increase in my psych meds and caused me to put on 6-7 extra pounds. I'm not being lazy though, walking a mile every other day at 3.2 mph, feel better since I started exercising again.:)
so do the meds make you hungry, or slow the metabolism?
so do the meds make you hungry, or slow the metabolism?
They don't make me hungry at all, so it must be a metabolic symptom. I've decided to go back to my smaller dose, because while they meds help with certain issues I have, I don't like the weight gain. I worked really hard to get my weight down, and to have it go back up really bums me out.:(
hey just an update
I went vegan 4 weeks ago
before that I was 207.2
This morning I was 194.6 lbs
uhm, I am not as fat, but I am still ugly!

Way to go!
Our office held a Biggest Looser contest last January. Everybody in the contest pitched in $10, and the winner took it all. As an office, we lost 200lbs. I personally lost 15.
I have since put 6 back on, but I am working to take it back off. I want to be 10 down by xmas.
