Favourite lesser known band
Here's a chance to post a thread about a band that you think deserves more attention. Whether it be a local band or not, post your favourite lesser known bands here!
My vote goes to Masters of Reality (Not the album, the band)..They are part of the Palm Desert scene that brought us Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age. Their music ranges from blues, to hard rock, to pop..all done quite tastefully. For the album Sunrise for the Sufferbus Ginger Baker joined the group and later live albums had QOTSA lead singer Josh Homme and former bassist Nick Oliveri participating.
They're releasing a new album in March 2009 and I'm really looking forward to it.
Some of my favourite songs by them are High Noon Amsterdam, Rabbit One, Gettin' High and Time to Burn..but everything by them is solid.
Some of you may have heard of them before, they are by no means unknown..but I don't think they ever elicited the attention they deserve!

The Mother Truckers. they are based in Austin Tx, and they just stole my damn drummer for a 2 month tour. They are fantastic, much worthy of a download on I Tunes..... wish I was on the road with them too!!
i don't think Om gets the recognition they deserve.

I really like what I just heard on their myspace.
Interesting and good music
simple.
I still can't believe not that many people have heard of the band dredg. I personally think they're one of those bands that everyone can find something they enjoy about them.
I saw them in Omaha the other night and it was a great show. I was literally a foot and a half in front of the bass player. Best show ever. Better than the TOOL concert, Dream Theater concert, and the two incubus shows i went to.
Ok there's RA
and a local band Laughing Colors. Kinda defunct, but the members get together every once and a while to play shows.
Masters f Reality sounds cool. Dig Kyuss and those song names look great.
Haven't hear OM in quite awhile.
Leftover Salmon is a fav of mine. Colorado band from Boulder. Unfortunately they aren't together anymore. Slamgrass at it's finest.
Hope this link works, if not search UTube for Leftover Salmon - Euphoria vid

My favorite band of all time is Five Iron Frenzy. You CO uglies may have heard of them as they're from Denver. They broke up in 2004, but they still get plenty o' plays from me!
Rock oN!

Philly's own Dr. Dog.
Seeing them Friday.
I'm actually not entirely sure how well heard of they are.
I really think the band 3 should be better known than they are.

Domino by M.A.R rocks....
Shiner would be my favourite lesser-known band. Their sadly long gone, but released 4 great albums. Their bass player on the final 3 of these has the best bass tones I've heard - Paul Malinowksi. I've sung his praises on here before but by god, he is a fantastic bass player and engineer.
