Anyone tried the Roland VB-99 system??
Thirteen hundred US dollars for the device ought to have a plethora of sounds and effects. I have heard the six string guitar version of the Roland and the sounds were awesome! Imagine playing a twang stick and it sounding like a Hammond B-3 organ! If the Bass verison is as good as the guitar version, then one would be forever experimenting with different sounds and pallets of music! I wish I had the time to test one as well as thirteen hundred dollars to purchase one!:o
BASK says no.
I know Richard Bona uses Roland Bass Synths to get his effects.
I've always wanted to try one out but... it's kind of hard, and you cant' really just blow all that money on something like this on a wim.
Is this one of those MIDI driven ones? Like the twangstick version where you need the Roland MIDI pickup to run it?
I'm not big on the bass effects, but to each his own.

Yeah - needs the GK pickup system.
So to hook the whole thing up you have to stick this horrible thing on your stick:

Then you have to spend a huge amount of cash on the module, spend hours learning how to use it.
Sparky's right - BASK says no!!
However, I'm gonna try and find one to play - just for giggles.

They are fun to mess with, at least the twangstick version I tooled around with was.
Be a good way to mess with everyone in the band because you can make drum, keys, horns, etc. come out of your bass. You could essentially buy a looper (if there isn't one already in the roland) then just fire everyone.

That looks like a micro camera up in the upper-left beneath the Roland. I think it might be some sort of spy device.
What does it do anyway?
