Bushfires - Arsonists believed to have started the blazes

YES SS, we do get this news, and Sigoth and I were very worried about you guys, and he plays EVE online with some Melbourne people he'e really close to as friends. We've been saying our prayers for all of you there, and hoping that the fire will be put out soon. I'll continue to pray that your friend is found safe and sound as well.!

This is horrible. Arson is by far a heinous act of terrorism to families and I think it should be punishable by the death sentence. It kills people, and destroys their lives if they do not die.

I heard about it over the weekend, and just this morning they were saying there was arson involved. :(

I first heard of the fires and extreme heat there sometime last week on the BBC news. Nada on American news until just the last day or so. Now it's arson.:mad:

I think LDD had the right idea if they get the terrorist perps.

This is the first i've heard about this SS, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and friends.

Really sorry to hear about this, it has been all over the news here in Canada. I hope you're able to get a hold of your friend and that he and his family are safe & sound and I hope they catch the people who did this.

Been keeping one eye on the news and CFA website for the last 2 days. Just watched 3 different news programs and found myself fighting back tears at some of the stories.

My folks are south-east of Melb but fine. Got a little concerned when there were small outbreaks to the north and south of them, but they're under control.

If there's anything I can do, Sparky, just let me know.
Thanks for the good wishes, folks - we're alright where we are, but there are many who aren't.
I'll be going down to a volunteer area today to see what I can do.
One thing - they'll all need somewhere to stay and food, which means $$.
So at least I can do something.
Hope they catch the b@stards that did this.

My folks are fine mate....no issues at all at the moment.

Good luck with the volunteering, the other half and I'd would probably be doing the same if we were there. It doesn't take much....I handed out water bottles to rescue workers in the week after 9-11 and met friends I still have to this day.

I feel for you guys, last year here in California was the worst fire season we've had in decades, so I know what your going thru.:(

THere are many video's at this CNN link, if you can even stand to watch them. I tried, but found that I cried too hard at the loss of life and the sadness of the people that lost loved ones. This is Mass Murder as arson. Those poor souls, my heart is just broken for them.

You can see Wallaby's and other animals running for their lives in a few of the video's if you look quickly. Many people lost their dogs locked inside homes. So sad. God bless Kevin Rudd...........He's in the midst of these people and hugging them and giving whatever hope and help he can to them. I love the PRime Minister of Australia's attitude about a lot of things.

We still haven't heard from some of our Aussie friends in that area...
