I'm not sure whether this will catch on, but good to see that scientists are working on the real important things. Mebbe when they get this to work for twangsticks, they'll start working on the uglies:
Hm... I cant find anything on it. I thought it was a Yamaha signature model. Anyways... Another example is the Ampeg line of instruments where you can switch the pickups instantly to get different sounds.
Seems like it would be too much of an annoyance to change those plates out. Reminds me a bit of the Variax line.

There is something like this allready for bass... I dont really recall where I saw it, but it was essentially the same - You swap the preamp very much like you swap it in this guitar, and you get all those different sounds.
