Five Peace Band
Going to see the Five Peace Band (Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Kenny Garrett, Brian Blades, and the amazing bassist Christian McBride)!
My wife saw it advertised and bought me tickets. She rules!
Good seats at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Brand new symphony hall so you know the sound is going to be El Perfecto.
Monday, April 6th. Woot!
Man, I love McBride... lucky basstard
I wanted to see them when they were here in L.A.... but I didn't want to spend that much money to go to L.A. >_<
Man that is gonna be great!!
Some of my all-time favorite musos
Enjoy!!
They were just up here in Stockton, my friend went to see them. He's a huge Mclaughlin fan, he said they were fantastic. Enjoy the show.:)
Cool!
You got some woman!
Enjoy the show
Saw this show last night. Wow.
Corea is a genius and is very, very generous with his musical companions (I dare not call them sidemen). All the players got multiple solos.
McLaughlin played direct to the house. No amp, just footpedals.
Brian Blade was simply amazing. Simple little kit: snare, kick (maybe an 18 or 20), mounted tom, floor tom, high hat, and three of the hugest cymbals I've ever seen. I've never seen a man smile that much. He was in Heaven.
Kenny Garrett is not of this world. His solos... I swear it was like he was trying to tear your soul out. Unbelievable. At many points, you'd swear it was Coltrane playing. Jaw dropping.
Christian McBride? Well, they don't call him The Beast for nothing. Upright and electric. As far as the electric, he played a fretless Atelier Z 5 string. I was really digging that. Love me some fretless. He can burn it up, lay back, or groove with the best of 'em. Well, he is one of the best of 'em.
That's all I know.
Just checked out some YouTube of them.
Pretty cool stuff.
Have a great time.;)
