I am starting a Side Line
Not bass or music related, however, it should help with my creativity.
This is only the first version of the site. Any criticisms are welcomed. I am no webmaster and this site is pretty basic. However I know there are some other graphic designers here that can offer me their suggestions for future improvements.
Quick overview. My wife got laid off and money is tight. We have made some slide shows in the past, and people enjoyed them. Now we are going to advertise our services.
Great idea!
My only input would be to use higher resolution images for the site graphics. They should look sharp, rather than fuzzy.
Thanks Darth
Hey, I may be contacting you about converting my wedding tape. IT's not a VHS though. It's the tape that was in the camera. Can you do that? Do I get a discount if the honeymoon is included?
That was something I noticed too, image res.
The site loads super fast anyway so no harm having better res.
Also, it's very small width wise. Not much on the pages but I had to scroll down to read it all.
There are a few weird gaps and or punctuatuion errors. Business sites don't have to be fancy but deffinately fix that stuff.
The printeable order form had the same issue, really long/skinny. Would probably take 2 sheets of paper when one would be fine.
Also, at the top of your html file there's a title section. (very top of code Story Page. You should put the company name there so it says it in the web browser tab instead of 'story page'. You can also put a different one for each page. ie Digitized Photos - Order Form
Good Luck
remember, the standard design practice is to design to 800x600 screen resolution, IIRC. that is why stuff looks so small on a larger resolution screen........
you could do both high and low res versions of the site.....
looks good.
Yeah, but that's gonna chnage and I'm suprised if in web design circles it hasn't already.
Almost every monitor made anymore is widescreen, when 800x600 was the rule was when almost NO monitors were widescreen. Plus computers are at least twice as fast as they were, you can get a fast one for $400 that can load a page that small in a sec. Back then a comp like that was at least $800.
Hey BB
Nice page..Just the width thing for me. I have a widescreen monitor, super fast computer. I also have a video tape of ken's band from back in the day I'd love to have it put on DVD...May get back with you on that...:)
I got a 'hosting suspended' message... perhaps you're using too much bandwidth??
IT's working now. Stupid thing is, if I don't log into the control panel for 2 wks the account is temporally suspended. Damn free hosting:(
suspended for me here in the USA!
NYC, susp!
al
great idea tho!
I wanna see
Hey Al
It is working now. I made a mistake. I have to log in to the sites forum once every couple of weeks to keep my site active. I thought it was the control panel. The price you have to pay for free hosting with no adds.
So go and check it out now, I just checked it. Please go easy, this is just version 1. I want to get a little more design oriented when I get the time.
Also what do you think of the name Computer Janitor for a computer maintenance company?

Great idea!
