Help Fenderman
Hey Fenderman,
well, I just quit working so I got all the time I need now. I have been ouot in the shop working on that piece of maple I want to make a new bass. Got the neck routed out, bot the pbas and jbass pickups, got the lines drawn and holes drilled for the bridge. Fixing to drill the holes and cavity for the pots, this is whaere I need your expertise. Do I want 2 volumes, 1 tone and a 1/4 output or 1 zolume, 1 tone 1 blend and a output.
Cant wait for you too see it.
I'm told that addind a blend rather than two volumes slightly decreases your output. However given my druthers I always prefer a blend pot. So much simpler when adjusting. Start in the middle and kick it either way as necessary. I'd rather play than fiddle with my sound for 20 minutes trying to balance how much this pickup or that gets and maybe this one needs a little more tone. Blah Blah Blah. The majority of people can't tell that you have a scosh more treble onthis side and ... Also if you really want to get technical the jackass sound guy is gonna do with you what he wants anyway, why make it difficult. :D Probly no help in this thread but I'm hoping to stimulate the UBP thread economy with 14 trillion posts.
Have a great day!

+1 on that H
That's why I love my Sterlings!!
Yo! Dude! Hey, first of all, I sent you a little something to your personal e-mail. Let me know if it comes through and what you think.
As far as pickup configs, many jazz style players like 2 volume and 1 tone (or stacked tone). I think they believe they have more tonal control that way. I've never liked two volumes and 2 tones.
Me? My Roscoe Beck V has 1 volume, 1 tone, and a pickup switch. Simplicity: on, off, or both. I love it. Super easy to change tones on the go.
I believe the new RBV is supposed to have 1 volume, 1 tone and 1 blend. I'd go for this.
Can anybody else weigh in?
