"Kiss my @$$ I bought a boat and I'm goin' out to sea"
Hey Kids... the prodigal pops in again...
as always when I disappear, I've been crazy busy with work and life, which means little fun time on the computer...
on to the subject...
most of you don't know this about me, since I sold my last boat before joining UBP all those years ago, and just thinking about her gone made me weep like a beeyotch, so I didn't mention it much...
I have been a lifelong, passionate nutbag about sailing... the best times of my life have always been on the water... I could go on for days, but save it to say, it's an equal to my passion for music...
So, two weeks ago, and old friend called and asked if I wanted to buy his boat... Tom, there's no way I can afford your boat, so a tragic 'no' is the answer...
Levi, I want you to have the boat, I can't bear selling it to some asshat that's not gonna love it and sail it... I can't sail it anymore because of the new family, and I'll let you have it for a third of what it's worth, and you can take all the time you need to pay for it. I just stand watching it sit unused anymore.
WHA?!?
YES DUDE, YES!!!!
ladies and gentlemen, boy and girls, my as yet unnamed (I'm thinking Bajo) Watkins 27' sailboat... and my soon to be new home...

it's an amazing craft... rigged to single-hand, tons of cabin and storage room, solid as a rock, and bluewater ready...
Since the once and future Missus Halfie and I have at long last fully reconciled, I'm going to live aboard until she finishes nursing school next spring, and then the plan is to move back home, after we spend a month cruising the Chesapeake Bay to celebrate her graduation.
I can't even begin to tell you how completely jacked-up ecstatic this has made me!
So how will I afford my rock and sail lifestyle?
I've already scraped together half the cash, and to finish it off, I'm selling off superflous gear, and getting back down to raw simple basics... including some things I never thought I'd sell, but am happy to move them along to gassin' hands... much the same way Tom passed the boat along to me... except with less of a discount! ;-)
I'm keeping just enough to gig, should I ever desire to do that again (still wounded from the last band break-up), but that's it...
in the next few days I'll photograph and post it all in the classifieds... keep yer eyes out...
Cap'n Halfie, out!

(at the helm of my Coronado 25 back in the 90s)
You have a chewy outside with a crunchy surprise inside. Thinks of that boat as a plate the enchiladas come on.

Haha! Congratulations Captain!
I've always loved those ships - Never sailed one though. Great name, too. Hope you enjoy it.
I'm guessing you kept the jazz
your rig
and a mando
probably hang on to the ovation for firesides
close?
anyway, since you and Red are getting it together, and you're captain on a sailing vessel, that makes her your first mate :D
like me
you got your dream
live it bro
Congrats on both the reconciliation and the acquisition, Halfie. May both give you the happiness you deserve.
Have fun on the boat, Halfie...sailing is a dream for when I retire, which is still several years away.
Glad to hear you got what you wanted good sir.
Front, bow. Back, stern. If ya don't get it right, squirt, I throw your ass out the little round window on the side.
:D
Can we guess the movie?
Congrats and Ahoy to ya, Cap'n.
Enjoy and good luck.
LDD:cool:
Thanks ya'll! Any time any of ya are 'round Norfolk way, we'll take ya out!
I plan on spending the fall, winter and spring making increasingly longer cruises up the Bay, spend a day or two underway, moor and work for a day or two (gotsta love the 3g internet connections), and then move along... I never really have to meet with clients, so I can work from anywhere...
although, I'm tempted to just go...
I am the luckiest mofo in the world...
Doug: You swore you'd never tell!
Doc: She's slow as molasses, but seaworthy as all hell... and I'm in no hurry.
Ol'F: Actually, I'm getting very one with the Buddha on this... the only bass I'm keeping is my $45 (with amp) Yamaha BB300... it plays great, sounds awesome, and weighs half what the Jazz does... the Hartke/Bag End rig is on the block, and I'm keeping my Trace Elliot BLX-80 (it's enough for rehearsals and small clubs) and my Fender Rumble 15 (part of the $45 deal) as my boat amp.
I'm keeping two of my mandos... one has God's own voice, and the other is my first... made the selling the first bass mistake, not doing it with the mando...
Missus Halfie the First Mate? Ron, you know she's always been my First Mate... and you've been married long enough to know that SHE'S the Captain!
Red, workin' the helm of the Coronado...

Bare Handed: The happiness I deserve? I was hopin' for a little better than that... otherwise I'd be livin' in a gutter!
Largemouth: Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark.
again, thanks to all of ya for the well wishes!
Of course you must name it the
SEA BASS
and put a big bass clef on it.
heh, Doink, fuuny... but Bajo is Bass in Spanish... suitably pretentious for a sailboat, I think!

congrat's , and best wishes for smooth sailing !!

perfect name for such a fine boat ...:D
BTW Levi, love the Lyle reference and the song. He's one of my favorites.
Doc: She's slow as molasses, but seaworthy as all hell... and I'm in no hurry.
Of course you aint! Why would you? After all, en el mar, la vida es mas sabrosa.
Aye, I know those aint speedboats, but I still like them better. This kinda ship is to speedboats what a dancer is to Usain Bolt. Sure, he will beat her in any race, but I'd much rather spend my time alone with her :D. Plus, I bet you get better mileage .

Say what??
Have fun Halfie...
Largemouth: Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark.
Ahoy, Cap'n Halfie Quint :D
Awesome! Congratulations! I envy you.
Say what??
Have fun Halfie...
That's from a bad old song - To be honest, I had never heard it, but that line is ridiculously famous. It's translated as Life is better in the sea (Actually, if you translate it literaly it's Life is tastier in the sea)
Halfie-
I haven't been posting around this place much of late either, I know busy. But let me tell ya, I had to now. My God. After all you have been through, most of which I am sure many of us never heard about, this is the least you deserved. I am uber happy to hear that you and Mrs Halfie are on the up and up again. And that boat..........
Well needless to say I am certainly envious of you. But as with all my spats of the evil green monster, it is only because someone else is enjoying something that I would. I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world. I hope you choose to just go. Hop in with the missus, choose a direction and just go. I don't know about you, but I'd rather die at sea than live on land dreaming about it.
Now you've done it. I am gassin like a mofo, and I cant even afford a canoe. If you make it inland to Lake Champlain, holla, we have beer, cheese and ice cream the likes of which.....well the likes of which will make you nearly as fat as me.
Congrats! thats awsome bro.
Take a picture trick, I'm on a boat bitch!
;)
That should be your new theme song.
Perental guidance advised as per language.....
Our friend Heavy_P has obviously never had the pleasure of riding his pony on his boat, has he, Levy?
Watkins??
Sounds familiar.
Oh yeah, my late uncle was a marine surveyor and told me some real horror stories about Watkins!
Naw, I remember him saying they were really good boats back in the day when I had some interest in one. He did condemn a lot of Bayliners though....
Congrats Halfie and don't stick her keel into the Chesapeake mud.
We actually have some very good sailing waters around here extending north up into BC.
My neighbor has a 38-footer. Sumbyotch won't take me out for a sail though.
Awesome.
That is all
You are one lucky man!!! My dream is to retire as sail all over the world...
I use a pick........ So what!!!
