New Musicfrom My Band!
All right all you Uglies! The wait is finally over! My band Love Dog has finally recorded and released our first complete band EP. They have released two CD's prior that were either acoustic or piece milled together. Both good releases but the dynamics that you get from a well oiled machine like we are now just sounds so much better. The new disc is called La Mala Machacha which loosely translates to The Bad Girl. It was recorded in our practice space by J-Rug, and he did a killer job. Our style is what is known as Red Dirt Country. It's a combination of Southern Rock and Country or Country with an Attitude. The style originated in the Stillwater OK area, and we are really proud to be part of it.
Anywho! Check it out and let me know what you think!

Cool stuff Headle!
I don't really like country or southern rock...but I like this! Especially the title track. It had that really cool breakdown with slide guitar happenin'.
Me rikey.

:)
Thanks Suede! Also thanks to You Jackie for the alternate link. We really loved doing this. I'll post pictures of the cover and inside the jacket tomorrow when I get to work. It is also my all original design.
H
I have a favorite alt rock group called The Long Riders.
You guys sound a lot like them.
Great stuff H.
Thanks Ron! Without the Dobro/Lap Steel we border on the Alt Rock side. That's the cool thing about Red Dirt. It's a little of everything.

I'm digging the songs H dawg. It's not really my thing but it's excellent work. Congrats on the new recording.
Headle, nice work!! the songs sound great. I am realy into Red Dirt and Alt Country...one of my bands just recently opened for Casey Donahew and the Josh Abbot Band....we had a heck of a good time...we have a few originals but no recorded proof of how bad they are so I am gonna say it all sounds awesome when we play it...I love this that you have going on here. sounds great.
Diamonds Edge I'm glad you are digging it. I'm also glad you know what the hell I'm talking about. Red Dirt is not really a new thing but is seldom mentioned outside of It's own area. We really had a good time making this disc. There are a few flubs here and there and quite honestly it was meant for promo purposes to begin with but JRug made it sound so good we thought what the hey let's put it out. We were in a bit of a hurry to get it done as well since our lead guitarist/co lead vox was headed to Iraq for six months. He is in the sand now and we are running as a four piece while he's gone. The Rhythm player is going to play some electric and pick up some leads and the Slide player is picking up some more leads as well. The Dynamic changes some but we will soldier on until our buddy gets back!
Thanks Again for the kind words!

yeah that sound is kind of a big deal around here, I live in north texas (my house is about 4 1/2 minutes south of the Red River if I drive slow). We do a lot of red dirt in one of my bands and we are starting to pick up a lot more red dirt covers in the other band... it is a lot of fun to be part of a local scene that just seems to keep growing.
In case anyone was wondering the bass on this was recorded with my Ibanez Mikro. Yup that 28 scale little purple bass I bought for my daughter. I was having intonation problems with my ETB and everything else was down at the time, so I played it on the Mikro. Nice fat sound. I like it!
H
Proves that size doesn't matter!!
Just started listening – wow, very cool! And I've learned something today…never heard of Red Dirt Country before! Love the vibe of the title track.
Thanks Amy! We started playing together and writing songs and thought what the hell genre is this? Not really country but not really rock either. Lot's of crossover into other things. Almost electric folk. So I started hunting for bands that sounded like us (or we sounded like) and stumbled across some Red Dirt music. It was like an epiphany and there you have it. Red dirt is the Bastard child of Outlaw Country. Country music with an attitude steeped way deep in Southern Rock. It is what it is and who we are. Thanks for listening and I'm glad you like it!

Sounds good; I like the songcraft you guys have going here.
Title song is sounds good, Sticks and Stones is my fav of the bunch; don't have any way to listen to it on decent speakers though. Can't hear any bottom end through the crappy little dpeakers on this notbook PC and for some reason my headphone jack is sounding all distorted these days.
Keep up the good work! I'd go and see the show if it were local.
Jeff
Jeff send me an e-mail that can take a decent file. The low end in sticks and stones is pretty tasty. (It is my favorite too) I'll send you a file you can burn to a disk or an mp3 player or something. Sadly there may not be any shows for a while. Drummer bailed today. He's a Ska Reggae guy and got offered a gig playing what he likes. I can't blame him but damn 2 drummers in 6 months. Damn.
H
2 drummers in 6 months. Damn.
H
yeah, we lost our stinky too...his paying job is driving truck delivering gasoline so we all can drive around all the time; gas distribution centers have odd schedules to avoid peak traffic for these guys, so he works from 7 pm to 5 am. That and some other issues made it rough for him, so he finially threw in the towel and pulled his kit out of the church.
Had another guy was going to play, supposedly had done some serious work on with well known artitst, but hasnt showed up yet. Time will tell I guess.
Jeff
Our band leader just took a night job. He does have every Friday off though and every other Saturday so gig nights are still good. Trying out a new drummer on Wednesday! Lot's of new music on the board. I'm diggin' it!
H
So... are there different colors of dirty country? Like Black Dirt country? Probably hove someone that sounds like cookie monster screaming about loosing his truck with his dog in it to his best friend as he's leaving with his wife... just before serving his jail time...
:D
Anyway... sounds good man A lot of diversity in the New Music threads.
Black Dirt Country! Cute! :D
H
Right on H dawg!! Sounds good. That Mala Muchacha (sp) sounds like a surf tune. I like the tunes, not too heavy, but ain't all sissy like. You guys kind of remind me of Everclear who I really like. Sucks about the drummer.
As much as I liked the drummer the new guy has so much potential to move this band up a notch. Thanks for the props.
H
Hmm, I'd scope it but for some reason FlashBlock isnt letting MySpace player load properly...
Acoustic 408 coming to a stage near you soon
