out with the old and in with the new
can you iD the new ugly stick in the family shot (minus the DragonFly)?
well i'll help you out.......
it is super light, especially compared to my BTB1006. my guess is 16 or 17 mm string spacing at the bridge compared to the BTB also.... but still comfy to play. came with brand spankin' new DR Black Beauties.
soundwise, even though it is active (pups or EQ, i dunno yet). it has a passive vibe i attribute to the 2 band EQ, versus a 3 band EQ.....
neck pickup soloed sounds fat as hell. bridge pickup soloed sounds great too, although not burpy like a jazz PUP in the bridge... bridge pickup is sensitive to PUP height too. i initially lowered it and the high strings got all anemic on me...
the PUP blend knob seems uneven to me. not much room for actual blend. the selected PUP is either on or off, although there is some change on the bridge PUP side of travel........ maybe a linear pot for the blend would sound good.......
i need to take off the strings and wipe it down with a clorox wipe since it has a cigarette smell to it right now....... then i will pull the electronics to check them out and see what wiring options the bridge PUP has, if any.
overall, i wouldn't pay the new asking price for one, but it is a nice bass all around, and i will at least keep it for a good while.....
if she sounds as good as she looks.....nice. I love the DR Black Beauties on my Fender Aerodyne P/J.....
Smoking sucks! I smoke, and I hate it, but I promise it didn't hurt the bass. :-(
That is one nice looking bass..........
Good sir, there are little creatures swarming all over your bass!
:p
Nice snag... how much?
I ALMOST picked up one of those instead of my SR706 when I started my foray into ERBs seriously, but was 'iffy' on the washburn

yeah those little creatures swarm as soon as i pick up a bass.......... like bees to honey....
i am very pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. unplugged with my chin on the bass, it sounded very nice (and in 20 deg weather @ GC parking lot)... other than the weird blend pot behavior (maybe a washburn thing?), its really nice. the spalt top is a very thin piece of maple dropped on the mahogany body......not a 1/4 or 1/8 top like some basses. i oiled up the fboard (along with my BTBs) with the feed N wax and it gulped it all down.
i traded my ibby A/E straight across for it. i believe the street price is $689 new, and the ibby was ~$600 with OHSC, street new. so a pretty even trade.

and they always go for the tuners....
nice
is it as heavy as that 6er you brought to my party?

i am guessing 2 - 3 LBs lighter than my other 6er. i can tell the difference though
