Gez Benz Shuttle 6.0 and Line6 X3 Live Honeymoon is over
Before the forum succumbed to the pirate of anal leakage, I was going to give a tone review of the Shuttle 6.0 that I picked up after I took it to rehearsal. (Thanks to NWBasser for the reccomend, this amp ROCKS!)
The first time I took it to rehearsal I was still clinging to the Line6 X3 Live as a tuner, compressor, and overdrive unit. While this sounded good, the next rehearsal is where the amp really started to shine. Long story short, I am not using the X3 Live anymore, and just going Bass - Cable - Amp, with a Korg Pitchblack tuner on the tuner out.
I gotta say though, the amp is very dynamic. I turned it up louder than I normally would, and then just played lighter for the mellower songs and harder for louder stuff. Worked like a champ.
I'm also using the Shuttle 6.0 as a tube pre-amp for my acosutic guitar at open mics. The tube pre-amp makes the guitar sparkle. (Not in a Twilight kind of way).
For now, the X3 Live is getting some time off. I ditched all my analog guitar pedals to get the X3 Live, and am now seriously wondering WTF I was thinking. I've been an all-analog twanger for years.
Ok enough ranting. Here's a pic of the rig (posted in gear thread too)

I'm glad you like it Darth!
Just crank that thing until you get into the soft limiting mode. It responds like a tube amp being overdriven and gives the smooooothest distortion! I only hit that mode once, and was blown away!
The bad part is that you have to get into near-deafening volumes to get to that point.
I can get some nice tube grit with the gain cranked on the passive basses.
However, with the hotter and active Sterling, it gets to be a bit of harsh distortion (bad for tweeters) so I really back off for that particular bass.
I'm still pretty damn thrilled with mine every time I play it.
Love that thing...I have the Shuttle 3.0 and its all I need....gonna sell the Fender Rumble 60 now....
Sweet
Those cabs rock too
