Finding other musicians

Is Craigslist and Bandmix really all there is? I have GOT to get in a band or find musicians to build the band I want. I'm getting really frustrated. Because, just like tennis, music is a game best played with somebody else. Fun by yourself, but much more fun with a partner.
Bonus points for anybody that gets the movie reference. 
HINT: They were not talking about music.

Myx, Ken is still going through that himself. No qualified musicians around in his league, and he's been driving out of state a little ways with a band that he
CARRIES trust me.....He's about to just give up on em.....However, a really good Stinky, so we are all thinking, his buddy is back out of the Navy, and he can play back up gittar and I can be just a bit UGLY...
I wish you luck man..It's a shame that good peeps have no others to play with!

Yep
My normal classic rock band is limping along, but seems to be gaining a bit more traction lately.
I'll be auditioning for some indie band on Thursday. I don't have a clear understanding of what indie really means, but songs sound decent and there seems to be a lot of room in the music for some melodic bass playing.
I've been trying to keep myself open to various styles and it'll be interesting to see where this one goes.
At this point, I just want to get out and play somewhere besides a basement!

As far as I know it's simply Independent label ...It's independent filmmakers with an INDIE film....So it's the same I think...

I would totally be down for
I would totally be down for some indie along with the 90s music. I'm so damned frustrated with the lack of a band right now I'm about to scream! I want to have FUN!!! And that's one of my favorite ways to have fun. The other ways are illegal in four states and two of them are frowned on by the Vatican.

Rats!
Well, I did the indie band audition last night. I found most of the music a bit boring. Rather slow and not much rhythmic variability or energy to any of it. I like at least a bit of funkiness to things. They seemed to like my playing, although I'm not sure that they were even really listening.
...and the stinky got toasted to the point that he couldn't even play. 
Either back to the drawing board, or start kicking the classic rock band into better shape.
You can always try local music shops and twang centers. They usually have a board full of ads of people looking for musicians. Not sure if you have a local music publication but some of those may have musicians wanted on them.

All you have to do to be original is to actually have the balls to be yourself. Let it come out and it will come out differently. It is not hard to be original; it is fear that keeps us from being original.
