Blood-bile and Magic Connection
Just wanted to give you an update. ... I've been through some kind of year...
Winter 2008/2009 was when my marriage almost ended. It did in a way: we went through the biggest cleaning of the air since we married (in 1995). The storm started in october 2008 and the boat ceased to rock around february 2009. Our marriage isn't like it used to be anymore, and I feel it's for the better but I don't want to go through the process again. Not to mention what our our poor kids had to put up with. We told them carefully that we were angry with each other, that we weren't angry with them and that they hadn't done anything wrong. Still, they heard us yelling and saw us crying every now and then but they are OK today. I'm so grateful that we've always been able to talk with them!
I'm still playing bass, not practicing every day but rather every week. I was in a klezmer band that went on hiatus this autumn. Our percissionist managed to become father of a couple of twins and our accordion player was overworked. We never called it quits, but I don't think we will play together within the next couple of years.
So I put out an ad and stated that I wanted to start a band of trolls: masquerading as creatures from scandinavian foilklore and blend scandinavian and eastern european folk music, then infest it with punk energhy (just like the pogues did with irish folk in the 80's). I have a band with nine members now!!! (No vacancies!) And we can arrange with Fiddles, key harp, violin, percussion, voices, piano, accordion, upright, twangstick, lute, trumpet and bouzouki (some of us doubles on two or three instruments). The twanger kid came up with a riff in the wonderful time signature of 19/16, and we have finished two other tunes... things are not moving fast, but we are getting better every week. We settled for the name: Blodgalla wich would translate to Blood-bile In english. I really want to finish a couple of more songs so we can try the concept on stage.
Then there's mellow jazz and ballads with the magic connection... we've been together since 2007 and we're still enjoying each others company.

Hey Melker.....We shared on Facebook and I am so happy to hear that the kids are good and that both you and your wife have such a great connection with them...I know they look and seem extremely talented and gifted from the pictures you've posted....My first marriage was 16 years and it was so hard to start life over, but I managed and now I am so glad that I did in retrospect...
The new band sounds pretty cool....You will have to post some recordings...I am anxious to hear ...
Take Care!
Will you dress up like this?
