Autism Sucks
And there's a good chance you all know that anyhow. Because you're probably more closely connected to somebody on the autism spectrum than you know.
Ok, my fellow Ugs. I do not ever come on this forum with a personal agenda other than trying to make NW Basser shoot foreign fluids out his nose. But this time I have a request.
I am currently doing fund raising for the Walk Now for Autism in Sonoma county. Specifically, we have formed a team in honor of my daughter Cassandra, who is high-functioning autistic. As you might have guessed, I'm looking for donations for the team.

Also, I have formed a Facebook Cause for the same team and would love it you fellow Ugs would join me as a friend on FB and join the cause. The more people we touch, the better our chances of bringing in donations.
http://media.causes.com/741408 (by the way, I suck at this FB stuff, so if I screwed up with that link and you can't find me, let me know.)
Walk Now for Autism Speaks is the facilitator of the walk and has put tons of money into outstanding projects related to advocacy, research, awareness, and family services.
So hey, I know times are hard, so no bad feelings for those who can't throw in. Just do me a favor and pass the link on.
Thanks Ugs!
My nephew has autism too. He was just up here from San Diego with mom and sister for a visit. He's an awesome little boy and I really admire what you're doing Myx.
With that said, I'll be sending something along tonight for the cause.
Thorny, don't take it personally. Especially for the last to years, I haven't been talking to much of anybody lately. I appreciate your comments a lot. And yeah, it doesn't surprise me that somebody on the board knows somebody on the spectrum. It's a sad state of affairs. Best thing you can do to help me is send people to that Team Sissy page and ask them to donate. It all helps. And once they see her face, how will they be able to resist?
Thanks Thorn!
Damn man. You and I have seriously got to meet. We have way too much in common: we play bass, we like it funky, we know somebody autistic, we both think I'm funnier than Yoda in a thong.
Any and all help is immensely appreciated, my friend. I hope your nephew is doing well. So where is he on the spectrum? Is he high functioning or low? My daughter is high functioning and we're very fortunate that she is. I can't imagine the work that goes into caring for a teenager that is low on the spectrum.
Anyways, any time you wanna chat about it, man, you know how to find me. And thanks again!
Hey only thing I take personally is a check in my name~!
I love everyone! That's me! I tried to sign up last night on the FB thing, but my computer was not moving on that site for some reason..I'm trying again here in a few Myx!
Unfortunately, I couldn't contribute as much as I'd like to at this time since I'm currently unemployed. But, as you say, every bit counts and I'll likely get a new job soon and can send another contribution then.
My nephew is pretty low-functioning. He's only five years old now and one of the sweetest kids around. Fortunately, he has an awesome mom and dad who are doing wonders for his development.
My brother-in-law lives in Sonoma Co., out in Forestville. I think a road trip down that way to you and him along with some of the other central CA uglies like Slade, Vinx, and LDD would be an excellent idea.
DUDE!!!! I live 20 minutes away from Forestville! I used to work there!
Come down! Friday is my birthday and my old band is playing and I'm partying with them!
Ok... I'm getting carried away. But seriously, come visit!
Big ups to you Myx on fighting for a good cause. Were I not an unemployed student, I'd definitely put down some generous donations. My little brother has high-functioning autism. I've never met a more fascinating, love-able, talented person in my life. And the kid is 9! Often times I wonder what's going on in that little noggin' of his, and it upsets me that I'll never know.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
Cheers,
Suede
You see what I'm sayin'? Thats 3 of us just on this forum that are connected to Autism. Wow. It's pretty awful and amazing all at the same time.
Suede, I totally relate to what you're saying about wanting to know what's going on inside their minds. And I am often envious that they apparently feel no guilt for ignoring people who desperately deserve it, like myself.
Also, I get the whole being broke thing. I'm barely hangin' in myself. For those of you who would seriously like to join in helping me for the walk, please feel free to sign up and join our team. Once you've signed up, then you can just send out emails to people you know requesting donations. If you're uncomfortable with that and just want to be moral support, I'll take that too.
For those that want to sign up and help the cause, here is the link to join the team. Just click on the Join the Team link that is about midway down the page:

I just saw this.... I'm gonna do something to support. Still wiping the sleep from eyes this a.m but I'll get on it. PLus, this goes to the main page (just this once)
Wow.... Slade, that is just too cool. Thank you for the support. And to everybody else too.
If you guys can't donate or join, whatever the reason, then please just talk to somebody about autism. Awareness is a huge part of what Autism Speaks is trying to accomplish.
Thank you for being the beautiful ugly people you are.
alrighty... I made a small donation. do what you can ugs....
I gave some too.
Hope it helps.
Ron and Slade, thanks a bunch! It's all appreciated very much. Your show of support really means a lot to me. Thank you again.

Myx, although it feels like you rarely really speak to me now or in the past, I love you anyway,
