Should I trade my Stingray 5 for a Lakland 55-02 deluxe?
Havent played a Lakland.....although the next time I get the itch to go shopping I think they'll be on my list. I haven't seen exactly what I'm looking for in a bass yet.
I'd like a MM humbucker in the bridge' but want a coil splitter swtich to run just a single coil tone also. Also want a P-Bass pup in the neck position.
When I was on the prowl for my last aquisition I had a guy tell me that he described the Lakland as a hybrid with the best of both Fender and MusicMan.
Buy the Lakland and just wait a little to unload the MM to see if the Lak is right for you.
Hey, that's how I ended up with 3 motorcycles.....
Hey yall,
As stated above I have quite the offer on the table, I know the lakland is worth slightly less, but I am not content with the flexibility of the musicman and require a bass that can cover a wider range of tones. This offer came up and I am a little confused still. I am going over to see the bass tomorrow, probably will just check it out and sleep on it.
What say you guys?
I'd say check it out and sleep on it.
I have't played either in depth so I can't give a valid opinion but you know your MM so give the Lackland a shot, see what you think, go to bed, and if you still feel that strongly either way when you wake up go for it.
The Lakland would offer tremendous versatility with very high quality. They're known for having a really sweet B-string.
