Too many instruments...
... is it possible??
Y'all gonna say, it isn't.
But hidden under the bonnet of that statement is a tiny storage problem.
I hate having a stick without a hard case for it, and I like to hang my instruments on the wall for easy access.
The wall hanging isn't a problem, but the dang cases are a trip - halfway up to the roof.
What do you guys do about storing your cases??

I've only got a few instruments
7 basses and 3 guitars
hsc's are in a storage closet
I use gig bags to transport them
7 gb in all
just have to make room
my HSC are all on the top shelf of a closet or upright at the end of the same closet.....
i've been tempted to move them to the attic though..... closet space is a premium in my house!
i think i have 7 HSC and 1 gig bag. but 9 basses.... and an acoustic twang stick case in the attic.
This can be a serious problem in small houses with little closets, MINE! We have 7 guitars, two basses, a weird turkish thing, and all in cases. Three or four amps. So, must of ours stay in their cases. Too easy to knock them over with a lot of company here all the time. We did find out that when we have extra cases laying about with several of the sticks out at a time, our attic is floored and cool, so we just pull the stairs down and put them in there for a day or two at a time and then when all are in their cases, they lean on walls in stacks upright. It is a pain to store them, however, thank God we aren't Stinkys! LOL
O.K.....I'll bite.
details on the weird turkish thing?
Three ugly sticks, one borrowed twang stick, one HSC, two gig bags, and mini long haired daschund pain in the a$$. Two ugly sticks and the twang out at almost all times, the backup fiver in a bag, the wiener dog in a big sock with the toes cut out. Sure would like to store him in a bag though.
1 Ugly stick. ( A Rogue LX 205b 5 String )
2 Acoustic Drum kits. ( A 5 piece Tama and a 6 piece DW )
2 Synthetic Drum kits. ( A Yamaha DTX 900 K and one I made myself )
Space is sometimes an issue but that's why I have a music room.
Mine are scattered between my apartment, parents house, and church/practice area.
Ibby 405, Hartke LH500, and Hartke VW215 all at church.
Basstar travel bass at apt.
Carvin electric, Strategy electric, and Alvarez A/E at parents.
87 Fender P, Carvin head and 1x15 at parents church.
Thin out the herd.
Perfect on your closets. Those case are awesome!
Four ugly sticks...
two electric twang sticks....
two acoustic twang sticks...
all have HSCs.
I just finished a shelving project in my basement that allows me to store them all..cleanly..easily accessible...and out of the way. Only gig with one bass anymore...so it makes my life a lot easier...

I keep all my instruments in their cases. While its nice to look at them,
they are better for it, especially my guitars, they don't get played as much and it keeps them from getting attacked by errant critters, excessive dust buildup etc.
Now storage of the cases of instruments, well that becomes somewhat of an issue. Currently I have 5 guitars, plus the two basses. For the most part they live in two coat closets in the living room. Usually one of the guitars and a bass is out of the closet for a lenth of time.
My wife tolerates it; complains about battling with guitars to get her vacuum cleaner out. When I bought my nylon string Taylor NS-74; the agreement was that when she got done vacuuming it was my job to put the vacuum cleaner away. Done deal. I'll write it in blood if I have to, small price to pay.
Here's teh list, by seniority; for lack of any better order:
- Deep Bowl Ovation 6 string, A/E guitar. Gift from my father when I was in
high school. Keeper for life.
- Guild Jumbo body acoustic 12 string, rosewood back and sides, spruce top.
- Taylor Big Baby 6 string acoustic.
- Gibson ES-335.
- Taylor NS-74. A unique guitar - not many were made without the cutaway, or
with 12 frets to the body. Also the body was not molested by the
installation of a plastic preamp as the standard build is.
- Fender Aerodyne P/J bass
- Spector 5 string bass
Yes, in fact I do use a pick. On my GUITARS! :D
