has anyone ever messed around with one?

i bought one put it in my rack and before i even hooked it up i found out my head had died haha
sucks but does anyone have any insight on a sonic maximizer bbe 422?

The pedal one does its think

I think the pedal one does its thing to the top end only, adds sort of sparkle to it, but the low is just a straight up boost like eq. The Alesis xciter with big bottom actually does tricks to the bottom to give the impression of more low end without stressing your speakers. Not sure about the rack BBE. Wish I'd kept my rack Xciter.

I like em

I like em just fine... but I'm more a fan of the Apex Aural Exciter... bigger boom and tone without increasing gain output... the BBEs all increase your gain output.

I use one and love it. I have always wanted to try the Aphex, but never tried to really find one. The BBE in my rig is great.
