Van shopping's gonna suck...
I hate Mondays... the only thing I hate more than Mondays are Mondays that don't happen on Monday
Long story short, the Chevy crapped out yesterday. Got it towed home and find that my 59,000 mile engine blew the timing chain!!
And given the left framerail is nearly rotted in half (due to poor design and the crappiest steel I've ever seen) , I'm not gonna bother fixing it.
I was hoping this GDMFPOS would last until I found its replacement, but no such luck.
I don't mind vehicle shopping via the internet but cannot stand dealing with sales reps! However, I believe that FORD has a better track record than GMC with Vans (the Econoline series of Ford vans has always been the van of choice for many business owners because they're just plain reliable). Get on line and do some cybershopping, print out your results, and take those results to competing dealers...good luck!
The one time I got what I wanted from a car dealer I went shopping when I was sick. I had a cold. I was pissed off. The sales rep didn't want to be close to me anymore than was necessary and I was irritable enough to stand my ground. It worked for me. I'm also sick today, so maybe that's just what I'm remembering today.
Do I sound delirious? I hate car shopping. Feeling your pain bro.
Marc: I had two Fords and loved them.
What really sucks is that extended length cargo vans around here are scarce (nearly non- existant). Been looking for nearly 16 months with no luck.
Wish me luck, guys... I'm gonna need it.
I recently spent 10 days out in the boonies of Eastern WA doing field work with the company Ford E150 work van (2008 model).
A couple of observations about it -
Comfortable seats, it was looong drive and the seat was good for it.
Lousy suspension, driving over cow fields, the springs would unload violently from each and every bump at less than 5 mph. No apparent rebound damping from the shocks. I felt as if I'd been in a bar fight afterward. I'd be looking at a shock change ASAP.
The steering wasn't exactly precise. In high winds, it was a tough biyotch to keep straight.
Vague shifter, I had to work the automatic shifter around a bit before it finally found the gear I wanted.
On the good side, the 4.6L V6 engine had decent power for zinging over mt. passes.
Good luck Matt, I hope you find a good one.
I love Ford Pickups
but GM makes a better van
avoid Dodge if possible
Ford= Found On Road Dead
Ford= Fix Or Repair Daily
Ford backwards= DROF= Driver Returned On Foot
Still have no wheels.. seems like every vehicle around here for sale is a bigger piece of **excrement** then the testament to GM's reliability clogging up my driveway
What's funnier is less than a week after my van died, my sister's Pontiac wouldn't start (at least hers was a relatively minor problem)
Don't buy a Chevy.
