So I Promised some Pornography.......
A while ago I promised some porn, and now I am keeping up my end of things.
First my new rig. GK MB210 and old 15 cab. The GK is amazing and only weighs like 35 pounds, for small gigs it is all I take any more.

lovin the jazz bro
lovin the jazz bro
+1
furthermore...that GK stuff is awesome...
Outa all the stuff Ive been tryin out lately (from the selection at GC) the GK takes the cake. Just such punch and `depth`...full and clear...(if you can even use all those words in the same sentence)
Well...if money were no object I would opt for mesa...but when is money not an object.
But my next rig will be all GK.
T$
GK is the only way to go for small rigs... love mine!
That J Bass is sick dawg!!
Nice J my friend - looks warm and funky.
GK is great too - hard punchy and great for those samall gigs.
However, I do disagree with the Boss Man - It's not the only way to go - I really dig my MarkBass for the small ones...
peace
That J bass looks delicious.
You caught yourself a delicious Bass!

As many of you may know from previous posts, I work at GC in the Guitar/Bass Dept. In my down time at work I've been running A/B tests on the MB 210 because the idea of a 33lbs. combo really appeals to me. I gig a lot and lugging a full stack around with me all the time is a true pain in the butt. After running the GK against a Mesa Walkabout, MarkBass 210 combo, MarkBass 115 Jeff Berlin Sig and an Ampeg BA600, I ultimately went with the GK. The only one that I feel sounded better overall was the Mesa, but who can afford one of those? The tone of the MarkBass 210 was very similar, but not quite as loud. The Ampeg was OK too, but there was no capability to add an extention cab and it outweighs the GK by 20lbs.. It seems to be a waste to have a 600 watt amp and be limited to just a single 15 speaker. Overall, the GK MB210 got the nod because of the complete package of performance, light weight and sound that rivals or betters the higher priced offerings in this category. Also, it is the only member of the MB combo series that can add an extention cab. I may have opted for the MB212 otherwise...
Sorry for the hijack/old thread resurrection. I thought my review was kinda of a +1 for your amp choice snuffdog. Also, let me add that your Jazz looks amazing. Is it American or Mexican?
Sweet rig and bass finds all around.
And now for the coup de gras. I have owned this 1978 Fender Jazz Bass since 1997. It had been refinished prior to my buying it. It looks a little rough but I think that just adds character. Now this bass has been sitting more or less in storage for the last 2-3 years. Well I finally decided to take it out and get some of the mods done I have been wanting for years. So what got done? Well I had a tuner replaced. The pickups were replaced with an EMG active Jazz set. I had the stock bridge, that used to like to eat strings replaced with a Hipshot type A. And added some domed knobs for character. She looks great and let me tell you the sound is amazing. This is what I have always wanted in a bass. I may sell off all the others! No really.
Not sure I wanna.
