Craigslist
Thought I'd share a recent post I left on Craigslist... I've gotten a bunch of emails and offers from it. Seems to have ended the debate.
Back story...
It's fuzzy, but I guess one of the local morning radio shows had a discussion about bass players, how they weren't musicians, and/or weren't needed. I think maybe one of the guys has a band and couldn't find one... or kept finding those less qualified... anyway. The subject spilled over onto craigslist and there were a number of, well I guess, 'anti' bassist posts as well as a few trying to defend the art.
very funny...it's unbelievable that we all could be replaced by machines.
Soon Roland are gonna come out with the new JacoRythm machine, right?
...cookie monster with a hairball
That's freaking funny!

Great Post. Good on ya!

Eye, you did a great job of capturing the attitude of probably nearly all bassists regarding our craft.
Of course, I really enjoy music with a lot of bass in it, but not all folks do. Consider the commercial success of White Stripes for example. I suppose some folks don't really care for the sound of bass just as I don't like the nasal chew of a kazoo.
I really get burned when listening to music in the car where the road noise seems to eliminate most of the bass from the mix. Grrrr...
to eleven.
Turn it up so the doors are shakin'
turn it up so's you set off all the alarms of every car you pass
